The Moscow Social and Pedagogical Institute (MSPI), a non-state educational institution of higher education, was founded in 1996.
Since 1996 the institute has trained more than 20000 specialists working in educational, health care and social sphere organizations and state authorities.
The institute is comprised of 4 faculties:
- remedial pedagogy and special psychology,
- applied psychology,
- pedagogy and psychology,
- State and municipal management.
The Institute successfully cooperates with 20 foreign universities and scientific organizations, with which it implements joint scientific and educational programmes and cultural and educational projects, organizes internships for students and teachers.
According to the results of participation in educational ratings and monitoring, for the fourth year in a row the Institute has been among the top five non-state higher education institutions in Russia according to the survey conducted by one of the leading Russian rating agencies RAEX (RAEX-Analytics).
The Institute was honoured with the high public award "100 Best Higher Education Institutions of Russia".
For the fourth consecutive year, MSPI has won the All-Russian Contest of Youth Projects held by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh).
MSPI has 11 scientific schools. Research teams of MSPI actively participate and win competitions of Russian foundations, ministries and departments, and implement a number of joint projects with the Russian Academy of Arts, the Institute of Philosophy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Bulgarian Academy of Painting.
MSPI is a member of the Consortium of value-oriented higher education institutions created with the support of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Consortium of private higher education institutions for military-patriotic and military-memorial education among young people 'Memory is stronger than arms' that works together with the Russian Ministry of Defence Directorate for the perpetuation of memory of those killed defending the homeland.
The institute works closely with the Russian Orthodox Church in order to improve the educational system and the professional skills of teachers and students on the basis of the principles of spiritual and moral upbringing of students.
The institute has prepared and is running some 30 programmes of further professional education, including unique programmes such as "Psychological counselling and art therapy", "Neurodefectology", "School for counselors", etc.
MSPI actively implements youth policy and volunteer movement.
There is a cooperation agreement between MSPI and the Sovremennoe Obrazovanie publishing house to provide scientific and methodological support for the VAK journal "Social Pedagogy in Russia", the editorial board of which includes MSPI Rector D.A. Melnikov.
