The Leningrad region is a subject of the Russian Federation located in the North-West of the European part of the country. It is part of the North-Western Federal district and the North-Western economic region.

The territory of the Leningrad region is 85,908. 8 km2, which is 0.49 % of the area of Russia. According to this indicator, the region ranks 39th in the country.

The state border of Russia with Finland and Estonia runs through the territory of the Leningrad region, as well as the administrative border with five subjects of the Russian Federation: Novgorod, Pskov, Vologda regions, the Republic of Karelia and the city of Saint Petersburg.

The Leningrad region has a well-developed network of road and rail transport, in addition, there are commercial sea ports in the region: Primorsk, Vysotsk, Vyborg, Ust-Luga. The intercity and international terminals of Pulkovo airport are located on the territory of the region.

The population is more than 1,700 thousand people.

The largest share of total investment is in the development of industrial production, transport and transport infrastructure.
