Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation

The Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation (MVD of Russia) is a Federal Ministry that carries out, within its powers, state administration in the field of protection of human and civil rights and freedoms, law enforcement, public security, and directly implements the main activities of the internal Affairs bodies of the Russian Federation and the internal troops of the Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minister of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, General of police, doctor of law, was born on may 11, 1961 in Nizhny Lomov, Penza region. Appointed Minister of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation on may 21, 2012.

The main tasks of the Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation are

to ensure the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms within their powers;
organization within its powers of prevention, detection, suppression, disclosure and investigation of crimes, as well as prevention and suppression of administrative offenses;
ensuring the protection of public order on the territory of the Russian Federation;
ensuring road safety on the territory of the Russian Federation;
organization and implementation of control over the turnover of civil and service weapons, explosives and products containing them on the territory of the Russian Federation;
organization and implementation of control over non-state (private) security activities and non-state (private) detective activities on the territory of the Russian Federation within the powers granted by legislative and other regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation;
organization of protection of property of individuals and legal entities on the territory of the Russian Federation under contracts;
management of subordinate internal Affairs bodies, divisions and organizations, organization of their activities.

In its activities, the Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation is guided by the Constitution of the Russian Federation, generally recognized principles and norms of international law, international treaties of the Russian Federation, Federal constitutional laws, Federal laws, decrees and orders of the President of the Russian Federation, decrees and orders of the Government of the Russian Federation, normative legal acts of the MIA of Russia.

The Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation operates in accordance with the principles of respect for human and civil rights and freedoms, legality, humanism and transparency.

The Prosecutor's office supervises the legality of the Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of the Russian Federation.
